Key findings

UnHerd (Oct 13, 2026): Kimberly Guilfoyle resigned as US ambassador to Greece on October 13, 2026, amid a cash-for-access scandal. Messages allegedly showed her offering access for cash, Deters, a long-time Trump donor, had promised to pay Guilfoyle $300,000 in "speaking fees." There are now calls for her to be investigated by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Donald Trump Jr. is also widely reported to be positioning for a presidential run. (Source)

The Hill (Oct 2026): Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate presidential families abusing power after reports that a Russian oligarch bankrolled Donald Trump Jr.'s lavish Bahamas wedding. Curtis called for subpoenas of both Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. The Hill noted that Congress's near-total inaction has deepened Americans' mistrust, citing a ProPublica report about a shelved FBI pay-to-play investigation into Congress. (Source)

American Oversight (Oct 2026): In July 2026, Truth Social rolled out a scheme giving paying subscribers early access to official government announcements, for up to $100,000 a month. Payments go to Trump Media & Technology Group, in which President Trump's revocable trust is the largest shareholder. Critics called it "textbook pay to play" corruption. Trump Media launched the Truth API on Aug. 1, 2026, selling real-time access to posts from the ten most-followed accounts, including the president's. American Oversight and Campaign for Accountability sued Trump in September to stop the scheme. (Source)

The Trump sons took stakes in a construction firm that merged with a mining company days after it secured $1.6B in US government backing for a Kazakhstan tungsten project. More than $13M in no-bid federal contracts were awarded to Event Strategies Inc., a firm staffed by Trump allies that helped organize the Jan. 6 rally.
